Monolake
Imbalance Computer Music / Berlin
Monolake is the open project found in 1995 by Robert Henke and Gerhard Behles about the exploration of the space, the time, the sound and their structures. A project born to build their own world using beats, sound microstructures, dub, ambient and minimal techno. Their own world, where it has been explored as much as possible the endless possibilities of computers when they create sounds. As result of this exploration it has been born the software Ableton, the most used nowadays as a tool by thousands of artists around the world and Robert himself has created as well the so-called Monodeck, the perfect tool to handle the software used in his live concerts.
Nowadays, Robert continues with the musical direction of Monolake, while Gerhard is dealing with the presidence of Ableton. Monolake, after having contributed to the music world with works of art like Hongkong , Interstate or Polygon cities , it is still one the most attractive projects in the world of electronic music, continuously worried about the start and the end of structures, how the sound may define a physical and mental space and get out the limits of the club. The project, from complex structures, filtrated noises and sound microparticles, has always defined its own sound line which means evolution.
